Early this morning, Ottawa Senators star forward Tim Stützle sustained an injury during a team practice session at the Canadian Tire Centre. The 23-year-old German standout was reportedly in the middle of a fast-paced drill when he collided with a teammate near center ice.
According to sources close to the team, Stützle appeared to favor his right leg after the collision and was helped off the ice by training staff. He did not return to the session, and head coach D.J. Smith later confirmed that Stützle was undergoing further medical evaluation.
“Tim is a key part of our team, and we’re being cautious. We’ll know more after imaging is completed later today,” Smith said in a brief media statement.
Stützle, who has been one of the league’s top young talents and a cornerstone of Ottawa’s rebuild, has 29 goals and 47 assists this season. His potential absence could be a major setback as the Senators push toward the end of the regular
